Nonwoven Fabric

Nonwoven Fabrics are uniquely engineered textiles that are chemically, thermally, or mechanically bonded together. Unlike traditionally knitted or woven fabrics, nonwoven materials can serve a wider range of uses. Because nonwoven materials can be designed to be tough, absorbent, and virtually free of particle generation, they are a popular wiping choice in controlled environments.

Official ISO 9092 definition of nonwovens:

A manufactured sheet, web or batt of directionally or randomly orientated fibres, bonded by friction, and/or cohesion and/or adhesion, excluding paper and products which are woven, knitted, tufted, stitch-bonded incorporating binding yarns or filaments, or felted by wet-milling, whether or not additionally needled. The fibres may be of natural or man-made origin.
